Birthday Celebrations!
It's been a whirlwind of birthdays lately and I barely have time to take off my party hat! That's ok with me as it makes me taller. Today my friends Natalie and Munish are both celebrating a birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Some people prefer not to make a big deal of birthdays, but I feel it is important to celebrate yourself! It is such an amazing thing that we all made it onto the planet at this time to share this life experience - so that in itself merits some birthday cake at the least!
There are many ways to celebrate. You can head off to a beach and take in the sights and smells of the ocean. You can sleep all day and binge watch Netflix. You can go out to a nice dinner with friends. You can go to a nightclub and dance the night away. You can go to a park and have a picnic. You coud jump out of an airplane (don't forget a parachute). You can laugh away at a comedy club, or go see a Broadway show. You can eat your favorite foods, no matter how strange the combination. You can sit and read the entire book you haven't had time to read all month. I don't know about you, but I have to have a lot more birthdays to knock off all those celebration ideas.
And don't build up too many expectations either way - too many or not enough - regarding your birthday. It's about you. Do whatever makes you happiest. When I was younger, I wanted my day to be perfect. If the weather wasn't great, or I got the wrong flavor treat, or my new toy didn't squeek - I would let it interfere with my overall enjoyment of the day. Now at 4, I realize, every moment is a new opportunity and I often get surprised with how great a day can become.
So Happy Birthday Natalie, Munish and everyone celebrating today or soon - yes that includes you Val, and Greg, and Eric, and Pam, and Michael and Lilith and Jim, and Barbie and Patty and Arianna and Tony and Peter(BFF)... Have Fun!
