It is officially Summer now and I am romping it out in the wilds of New Jersey!
Look - there is actual grass under my feet. It is green and goes on and on. What a relief from the hot asphalt I've been enduring throughout the city. I like the grass, as the blades are soft and the ground has a little bounce to it - good for the joints. There is the possiblity of some insects, but I'm the one protected and they may very well get stepped on if they get in my way.
I'm headed back to the city later so my mind naturally begins to compare the two. It's like the tv show Green Acres - the guy liked the country while the girl liked the city - He would sing: Green Acres are the place for me, farm living is the place to be... While she sang: New York is where I'd rather stay, I get allergic smelling hay... I could play their TV son as I like both. I love getting into one of six different elevators each day and greeting my friends on the street and going to stores and running fast. I also love running on soft grass, seeing lots of big trees and being free to run sans leash!
I guess I'm lucky - I have the best of both worlds!
It makes me think of Rosalind Russell's famous quote from the movie Auntie Mame:
"Life's a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death"
So true.... so Eat up and Enjoy Life!
(of course if you eat a LOT, you may have to do some extra cardio. I'm not being bleak, just a little realistic.)
