Rambo's Daily Dogma - by Rambo Fuhrman

Really Grandma?!

I didn't want to tell you as it is a little embarrassing, but last time I was with Grandma she took me to a nail salon. Now, I went for the adventure; exploring a new place, meeting new people, taking in the sights. So it was a shocker when Grandma turned to me and said, 'Rambo, what color would you like?' At first I had no idea what she was talking about, and then it slowly dawned on me.

For a brief moment I thought she was consulting with me as to a nice nail color for her. But it quickly became evident as my hand was thrust across the counter and Reiko began examining my nails. 'Oh, they are so cute'! Just what I didn't want to hear. Bad enough I'm the only guy in the nail salon but now my nails are cute@!

I mentioned a light gloss would be sufficient, but Reiko was insistent about the nails standing out and I ended up with some fluorescent party color on my nails. Funnily enough, they matched Grandmas. I looked into G's eyes and she smiled back with that slightly Thelma and Louise type look. This was going to be some weekend.

Once my nails dried, they actually looked pretty good. As I click clacked along on the black and white checkered floor at the salon, I thought 'I'm a pretty cool dude'. It takes chutzpah to sport bright orange nails. I also thought this would be good for my night walks as people could see me more easily and not accidentally step on me.

But mostly, Grandma and I shared a moment. We bonded a bit that weekend, and while I may not make manicures a regular thing, I'll always remember that day and the fun we had doing something together.
