It was a bit of a scortcher today! I had been out in the early morning but when I went out for my afternoon jaunt I was not expecting the heat. I like the warmer weather but I must say these temeratures remind me of the importance of hydration. I know the basics, drink at least half your body weight in ounces every day and more if you are active. I have about 10 pounds of sturdy muscle so I need at least 5 ounces of water a day. I prefer a bit more because I have a tendency to run around a lot, and I also want to secure some extra for marking.
First I stopped off at Fed Ex, where I saw Andy and Jake. I got a nice treat and hung out in the air conditioning for a while. I have inquired about possible jobs there and told them if they can't make me their mascot, I would be happy to lick envelopes. They said they would get back to me. I told them that I would get back to them - as I like to visit and get treats. It's a win win.
Then we headed to the Pier. There weren't as many people out as I thought there would be, probably because of the heat and because they closed the dancing water fountain. I got there and saw the sign and the chain link fence. Like that was really going to stop me...I doubt I could even reach the chain if I tried. So I thought of just runing through real quick and seeing if I could get the fountain to 'burst' me in the air for a momen. Whee.... that would be fun. But I've seen the cops there handing out tickets for lesser infractions so I focused on restraint.
By the time I got home, I was one thirsty pup. I probably drank my 5 ounces right then and there. Nothing like a tall drink of water on a sunny day!
