Woo hoo! It was an incredible day! Mom and I got up early and went for a long walk as all the rain from yesterday ended and it was clear and crisp like a fresh organic apple. We strolled the nearly empty streets as people inside unwrapped presents and sipped cider and the sounds of laughter skipped through the cracks in the windows as we passed by.
We got home and turned on the Yule Log. We both love this as it brings a beautiful fireplace into the room with all kinds of Christmas songs. We hummed along as we enjoyed our breakfast and wrapped presents for family and unwrapped presents from friends.
Wrapped presents? Well, yes, let me explain. In our family, we can't always get everyone together on the 25th, so we make Chanamus as we call it, on the day that fits our schedules best. It has to be in the general vicinity of the 25th, so the spirit remains, but this year it is on the 27th so we had the fun of spreading the holiday out - almost like Chanukah - which makes me totally happy. The longer a holiday extends the better!
I got a new sqeeze toy and some squeeze balls already. Mom knows what I like so she didn't even have to put a return gift receipt inside. Later we headed to Grandma and Grandpa's house - Over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's house we go.... That song is uncannily correct as we have to cross a river - the Hudson to appear at Grandma's - the woods is a bit of a stretch unless you count the row of bushes leading up to their condo. I like that bit of 'woods' as I can display my manliness and then arrive light and lean and ready for some home cooked food.
