Yeah, we have humidifiers... but there is something about cold air that causes your hair to go on edge. Between the chill and the stress of the holidays, most people find themselves running on the edge. I do my best to help - I will sit on their lap to warm them up or surprise them with a quick kiss on the lips -when all they thought I was going to do was sniff them. Yes, the holiday season needs to be savored not scurried though.
During the holidays you want to hold on to - or dare I say, CLING to the true meaning of the holiday. Make it about what you care most about. For each of us it will be different. I like the phrase 'Let there be Peace on Earth, and let it begin with me'. To that end, I have stopped barking incessantly at big dogs that try to intimidate me, but to whom I feel superior. I'm dropping the ego and opening my heart so that we might become friends. And maybe our friendship will lead to a treat exchange, where they give me delicious treats and I include them at my frequent parties. There are a lot of perks to being my friend. Yes, I'm like an Amex Card.
Lastly, a few tips to avoid Static Cling. Keep moving -- you stay warmer and even if your hair is sticking out, it looks like the wind is blowing it. Breathe -- it lowers stress and allows your entire being to relax. And most of all - Don't roll vigorously on a carpet. Now go forth and enjoy the day!
